Good luck Team GB!

Good luck Team GB!

We have loved supporting our fantastic team of athletes in this year’s hope-inspiring Olympics, but what many might not know is that Oakwood Homes have a special history with the Olympics locally…

This year’s Olympic games comes at a time when the whole country needed something to band us together, inspire incredible talent and give us some hope for the future. Everyone has been through a lot this year, but to see our teams firstly come so far in this EUROs, and then achieve super-human feats in the Olympics, it gives us all motivation and inspiration to do great things in our own lives.

We’ve treasured watching this year, as we have done in years previously. Many will remember the 2012 Olympics, held in the UK, with the Olympic torch making its way around the UK in a blaze of glory to begin the ceremony. This event gives Oakwood Homes it’s incredibly special connection to the games - one which some of our staff managed to re-live this year!

Back in 2012, David Bartlett, son of Oakwood Homes Lettings Director, Teresa Dickinson, was nominated to run the local stretch of the official Olympic Torch route in St Peters, Broadstairs by his aunt who worked for Lloyds Bank.

David was chosen in recognition for his charity work with The Zone Youth Club which now operates from The Pavilion Youth and Community Cafe in St Peters Recreation Ground.

David still works with the children and the cafe and was happy to lend us his treasured Olympic Torch for some photographs!

Above we have our fantastic Property Management Team (with Teresa herself front and centre!), then our Ramsgate office, followed by our Birchington office and our Margate office.

As you can see, our staff were excited to show their support and hold the historic torch itself from the local stretch during the 2012 games.

We wish all of Team GB competing in the Tokyo Olympics Games the best of luck – we’ll be cheering you on from Thanet!

When it comes to selling your Thanet home, setting the right price is one of the most critical decisions you'll make. Incorrectly pricing your house can lead to prolonged listings, missed opportunities, and even financial loss.

As autumn rolls in and festive celebrations light up the night sky, the firework season can be a time of excitement and awe. However, for our beloved pets, this period can be quite distressing.

As we approach the upcoming Budget announcement, many are left pondering the state of the housing market in East Kent and its trajectory. Recent trends suggest a shift in buyer sentiment, with some holding off on purchases in anticipation of clearer economic signals.
