Most Sustainable Agent 2022
Your local award winning Estate Agent just did it again! This time for something a little different.
At Oakwood homes we care about the area we live in and we care about the planet. Which is why we’re doing everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment around us. Our first pledge of 2022 was to plant a tree for every sale and let agreed, along with running promotions throughout the year we have managed to plant over 1000 trees this year alone. We use sustainable products wherever we can, including our stationery and our for sale boards. We have a “no single use plastic day” every week to encourage our staff to consider their use of plastics and our staff are encouraged to use the search engine Ecosia which awards “tokens” for every search which Ecosia in turn convert to trees planted in various projects in 35 countries.
Earlier this year, with the help of Carbon Neutral Britain, we earned the right to call ourselves a Carbon Neutral Company, offsetting our carbon emissions by funding worldwide projects; Wind Farm projects in the Philippines, Hydro Power projects in Chile and Rice Husk projects in Cambodia.
We were super excited when The Negotiator Magazine, one of the strongest, and most enduring brands in UK residential agency, announced a category for “Most Sustainable Agent” in their annual awards. When we heard we’d been shortlisted along with 5 other companies across the UK we were thrilled.
On Friday 25th November, at a glittering award ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London our “Green Team” waited for their category to be called, and the table erupted when Oakwood homes were pronounced “Most Sustainable Agent 2022”!
As excited as we are to be given this award, the work continues. Our new completely recyclable boards will be going up over the course of the next few weeks and we will continue to monitor our usage of fuel and plastics in the work place in order to be awarded Carbon Neutral Status in 2023.
