‘On our bikes’ for Oakwood’s cycle to work day and charity fundraising

Our staff are making a difference with their bikes by charity fundraising for Cancer Research UK. Plus, see photos from our ‘Cycle to Work Day’ last week as just one small step to love our local community and save the planet.

As a business based in such a beautiful community as Thanet, filled with stunning nature, glorious beaches, and amazing preservation areas, we want to do everything we can to protect and save our planet as well as our local areas. This is why we chose to take part in National Cycle to Work Day.

Cycle to Work Day – August 6th

Keen cyclists as our staff are, there’s no better way to start helping the planet than taking part in ‘Cycle to work’ day, with some of us continuing to choose pedals over engines for the future. We wanted to share a few pictures of our staff on their ‘commute’ – check out those views! With beautiful cycle paths and stunning views on our doorstep, why wouldn’t you want to cycle your way through our local community?

Fundraising for Cancer Research UK

That’s not all our staff are achieving on their bikes though. Andrew Dickinson, our Managing Director, and Craig Durrant, our Area Sales Manager in the Land & New Homes team are taking on a Cycle 300 – cycling 300 miles in September for Cancer Research UK.

The money is being raised in honour of Nik Jordan, who was our fantastic Head of Design & Marketing at Oakwood Homes. Last year, Nik passed away from Cancer. He touched the hearts of everyone around him, including every colleague he worked with at Oakwood Homes, and so we’ve spent our time since remembering him and honouring his memory by fundraising for charity.

So far, Andrew and Craig have already raised an incredible total of £655! If you’d like to support them on their way, you can donate to Andrew’s page HERE or Craig’s page HERE. Or if you’d like to join us in raising money, check out more information on the Cycle 300 on Cancer Research UK’s website.

If you see any of us out on our bikes this August/September, give us a wave! You can also pop into branch to chat to us. We’re excited to be on this journey supporting charities and our planet while we continue to help our local community move home!
