We live where you live! Meet the team: Diane

Learn a little bit more about the people behind all our work... 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ Diane is our director’s PA and the office administrator. She’s one of the original staff, having worked for us since we opened in 2005! We asked her a few questions:

What’s your role at Oakwood Homes?
PA to the Director and general branch administration

How long have you been working here?
Since we opened in 2005!

What’s your favourite band?
I like all sorts but particularly heavy metal so In This Moment, Ghost, Five Finger Death Punch, Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Wolves, Iron Maiden.

Do you have any hobbies?
I don’t own a car but ride a motorbike. I don’t like to call it a hobby as it’s just how I get around but it’s also a huge part of my social life. We travel on the bikes every year and get out and about on weekends.

What do you love best about your local area?
I’m Thanet born and bred but moved to Ramsgate in 1982 and I love it here. We have it all. Seaside, countryside, a fantastic harbour and cafĂ© culture. Ramsgate is also fantastic for live music

Favourite cocktail and/or local bar/pub to enjoy it in!
Not into cocktails, I like a beer best. I like any local bar that has live music (my partner is in a band), so in Ramsgate my favourites are Elephant and Castle, Red Lion, The Queens Head and Mariners are a good choice (in normal times!)

What does a day in your life look like working for Oakwood Homes?
I usually arrive just before 9 and change from bike gear to “normal” clothes, check my emails, arrange the new work that’s been put into my tray into priority, then plough my way through it. I check the property descriptions the guys have written for grammar and spelling and make sure they’re legally compliant, I make sure the properties are advertised correctly, I make sure the vendor I.D is correct and in place. Other things I take care of is stationery and supplies ordering and keeping track of the costs we have. I work from Margate but visit Birchington and Ramsgate alternating once a week to keep their admin tidy also. Then at 5.30 I put my bike gear back on and ride home!

Favourite type of home? (period/new build/apartment/cottage)
I’ve always liked period properties but I’m loving this new style of open plan living. Nice and light and airy.

Favourite place to holiday?
My partner and I travel on our bikes and Austria is my favourite so far, we went as far as Vienna last year. I also enjoyed riding in Portugal, and once went on my own to Gran Canaria for a guided bike week

What phone do you have? (iOS v Android?)
Android, all the way!
